Lance's fascination with filmmaking began at the tender age of nine, when he was captivated by the eerie atmosphere and timeless charm of classic Universal horror films, which he watched on Saturday nights with his mother. The iconic black and white visuals of Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman, and other cinematic legends sparked his imagination, and he was soon inspired to grab his mother's Kodak 8mm home movie camera, initiating his journey as a budding filmmaker.
As he delved deeper into the world of cinema, Lance found himself drawn to the German expressionism of Nosferatu and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, which further fueled his creative spark. He became acutely aware of the universal message conveyed by these films, namely the powerful impact and emotional weight that can be achieved through the delicate balance between light and dark. This understanding of the importance of composition in storytelling non-verbally has remained a guiding principle throughout his career.
Lance's cinematography has garnered numerous accolades and awards, but he has never been content to rest on his laurels. Instead, he continually pushes himself to innovate and explore new ways to bring his director's vision to life, while also paying homage to the masters who pioneered the art form.
Throughout his career, Lance has worn multiple hats, working as a camera operator, producer, and director. He has directed one feature film, Cup of My Blood, and produced three others. His impressive client roster includes Fortune 500 companies, large advertising agencies, television networks, and motion picture studios.
