Gerlando Buzzanca, professionally known as Lando Buzzanca, is a renowned Italian actor with a illustrious career spanning over five and a half decades. Born in Palermo, Italy, to a cinema projectionist, Buzzanca left high school at the age of 16 to pursue his dream of becoming an actor in Rome. To make ends meet, he took on various jobs, including working as a waiter, furniture mover, and even making a brief appearance as a slave in the iconic film "Ben-Hur".
Buzzanca's official acting debut came in Pietro Germi's "Divorce, Italian Style", and he soon specialized in playing the role of the average immigrant from southern Italy. Following the success of the "James Tont" films, in which he parodied James Bond, Buzzanca found widespread acclaim in a series of satirical commedia sexy all'italiana films that poked fun at major institutions such as politics, religion, trade unions, and the financial world.
As the popularity of the commedia sexy all'italiana genre began to wane, Buzzanca shifted his focus to theatre and television, where he experienced a resurgence of popularity in the 2000s thanks to his well-received performances in several TV series.
Tragedy struck in 2013 when Buzzanca's wife, Lucia, passed away, and he struggled with depression, attempting suicide by cutting his veins. However, with the support of loved ones and a newfound sense of purpose, Buzzanca made a remarkable recovery and began to rebuild his life.
In 2015, he entered into a romantic relationship with a younger woman named Antonella, and in 2016, he participated in the popular television program "Ballando con le stelle" as a dancer, while also embarking on a passionate romance with actress and journalist Francesca della Valle.
