Born and raised in Prince George's County, Maryland, Lanett's journey began at an early age, landing the iconic role of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz during her elementary school days. This defining moment cemented her resolve to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
After earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Howard University, Lanett relocated to Los Angeles, where she served as a consultant to the renowned Ed Weinberger, a legendary producer behind iconic shows such as Taxi and The Cosby Show, on the series BELLE'S, starring Keith David and Ella Joyce. This experience not only honed her skills but also instilled in her the importance of creating her own work.
Lanett's subsequent career milestones include producing an award-winning short film, 'SISTER SISTER SISTER,' followed by a series of narrative-driven videos for a Universal Recording Artist. She co-wrote and produced the Suspense/Thriller Feature 'ILLICIT,' which received a theatrical and streaming release. Her subsequent projects include co-creating, writing, and producing the comedic single-camera series 'PUMP,' in which she also stars alongside notable actors Ray J, Jennifer Freeman, Michael Jai White, and more.
As a testament to her versatility, Lanett served as lead producer and writer on the Fox/Mar Vista thriller TWISTED DATE, currently ranking #1 on the Tubi platform. However, her most anticipated project to date is the psychological thriller ANGIE'S CURE, which she wrote, produced, and stars in as the title character. This film holds a special significance for Lanett, as it speaks to her on a deeply personal level.
ANGIE'S CURE had its world premiere at the Dances With Films Festival on June 27th, 2023, and went on to win the festival's coveted GRAND JURY AWARD for Best Feature Film.
