Biography

Laura Misch Owens, born on November 23, 1953, in the vibrant city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was the middle child among three sisters, with her parents, an engineer and a school teacher, providing a solid foundation for her future endeavors. Despite being just nineteen years old, Owens made a significant decision to relocate to Louisiana, a move that would set her on the path to stardom. In New Orleans, she secured a position as a Bunny at the renowned Playboy Club, an experience that would have a profound impact on her life and career. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of Owens' journey into the spotlight, as she would later go on to achieve the esteemed honor of being the Playmate of the Month in the February 1975 issue of the iconic "Playboy" magazine.

During her sojourn in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Owens had the pleasure of encountering and subsequently marrying a dedicated police officer by the name of Eddie, although their union would eventually come to an end with a divorce.

It was during the mid-to-late 1970s that Owens' acting career began to gain significant momentum, with a string of notable film appearances that were largely shot on location within the captivating atmosphere of New Orleans.

Some of the notable films that Owens featured in during this period include the made-for-TV movie "A Shadow in the Streets", the controversial and often sensationalized "Mandingo", the critically acclaimed "Hard Times", the quirky and lesser-known "French Quarter", and the horror film "Mardi Gras Massacre", which is often remembered more for its camp value than its artistic merit.

In addition to her film work, Owens also made a lasting impression with a memorable appearance in a television commercial for Miller Lite beer, further solidifying her status as a talented and versatile actress.

Noteworthy developments in Laura Owens' professional trajectory led her to relocate to Miami, Florida, where she established a career as a journalist for the esteemed publication, "The Miami Herald". Subsequently, she made the transition to Denver, Colorado, and contributed her expertise to "The Rocky Mountain News". During her tenure in the Mile High City, she crossed paths with her second spouse, Joe Watt, and they exchanged vows. In the year 1997, Laura Watt, as she was now known, released her inaugural literary endeavour, the novel "Carry Me Back", which bore her married name.
