Lauren Weedman is a renowned comedic actress, playwright, and author, celebrated for her outstanding performances and innovative works. Her professional journey began with the 15-minute performance art piece "HOMECOMING" at Seattle's On the Boards, which later evolved into an off-Broadway production in New York City.
Her notable play "BUST" received a MacDowell fellowship for playwriting from the Alpert Awards, as well as numerous "best of the arts" accolades across the nation. Throughout her career, Weedman has written and performed nine solo plays, including "HOMECOMING", "AMSTERDAM", "IF ORNAMENTS HAD LIPS", "HUU", "RASH", "WRECKAGE", "BUST", "NO...YOU SHUTUP!", and "THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF PORTLAND", commissioned by Boise Contemporary Theater and directed by Jeff Weatherford.
Weedman's television credits include appearances on "The Daily Show", "True Blood", "United States of Tara", "Reno 911!", "Curb Your Enthusiasm", "New Girl", "Arrested Development", and "Horny Patty" on HBO's "HUNG". Her film credits include "Imagine That", "Date Night", and Judd Apatow's "A Five Year Engagement", starring Jason Segal.
In addition to her stage and screen work, Weedman is a published author. Her first book, "A Woman Trapped in a Woman's Body: (Tales from a Life of Cringe)", is a collection of comedic essays that was named by Kirkus Review as one of the top ten Indie books for 2007. She is currently working on a second book of essays, set to be published by Plume in 2014.
Weedman resides in Santa Monica and serves as the host of the popular Moth Storytelling series in LA.
