Person Biography:
Leah Marie Remini was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, and raised in Los Angeles, California. She was born to Vicki Julia Marshall and George Anthony Remini, who owned an asbestos removal company. Remini has an older sister, Nicole, and four half-sisters, Christine, Stephanie (who passed away in 2013),Elizabeth, and Shannon.
Remini began her career in television, starring as Carrie Heffernan on the long-running CBS comedy series The King of Queens (1998-2007) and later co-hosting The Talk in 2010-11. She also created, hosted, and executive produced the Emmy Award-winning A&E documentary series Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath (2016-2019) and the iHeart radio podcast Scientology: Fair Game (2020).
Remini was raised as a Scientologist, but left the organization in 2013. She has since become an advocate for those who have been affected by Scientology, including her own family members. Remini has written a memoir, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, which was published in 2015 and became a New York Times bestseller.
Remini has been married to actor Angelo Pagán since 2000, and they have a daughter, Sofia Bella, born in 2009. The family was raised Catholic, and Remini has spoken publicly about her conversion to Catholicism.
Remini has had a successful career in television, starring in a number of shows, including Who's the Boss?, Living Dolls, The Man in the Family, Saved by the Bell, Evening Shade, First Time Out, Fired Up, and The Exes. She has also appeared in several films, including Old School and Kevin Can Wait.
