Leisha Hailey is an American actress and musician born on July 11, 1971, in the United States Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands, Okinawa, Japan, to American parents.
She grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska, and at the age of 17, she relocated to New York City to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
During her time at the academy, she formed a pop group called the Murmurs with her classmate Heather Grody, which was later renamed Gush.
In 1996, Hailey made her television debut in an episode of Boy Meets World, and a year later, she landed her first major role in the film All Over Me.
In 2004, she secured the role of Alice Pieszecki in the popular television series The L Word, which became her most iconic and enduring role, and she played the character until the show's conclusion in 2009.
In 2007, Hailey collaborated with Camila Grey to form the electropop duo Uh Huh Her, and the following year, the band released its debut album, "Common Reaction".
After a hiatus, Hailey returned to the role of Alice in the television series The L Word: Generation Q in 2019, reprising her iconic character for a new generation of fans.
