Biography

Len Richmond, a native of Santa Monica, California, is the creator of one of England's most successful sitcoms, "Agony". This critically acclaimed series won the Banff International Television Festival as "Best Situation Comedy", beating out notable shows like "Mash" and "Taxi". The show has been adapted into a bestselling book and home video, and its American spin-off, "The Lucie Arnaz Show", aired on CBS.

"Agony" follows the tribulations of a magazine advice columnist and has been revived by the BBC with new episodes, titled "Agony Again". The series has been broadcast in 21 countries, including twice on PBS, and has received numerous nominations for British Emmys and Writer's Guild Awards. It also won the AGLA Media Award for its responsible portrayal of gay and lesbian characters.

In addition to "Agony", Len Richmond created the highly rated British comedy series "Split Ends", set in a trendy London hair salon, for Granada Television. He also wrote for the long-running ABC sitcom "Three's Company" in the United States.

Len's stage play, "Risky Kisses", was a critical success in London and received a national British tour, as well as productions in Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, and Paris. The play is being developed as a feature film by Granada Films.

Working and living in Paris, Len created the French TV detective series "Le Chinois", co-written with French mystery writer Delacorte, starring Charles Aznavour. He also wrote and directed his first independent feature film, "A Dirty Little Business", starring Michael York and Beverly D'Angelo, with an original musical score by Erasure.

As a London journalist, Len writes regularly for various magazines, including Cosmopolitan, Punch, Forum, Penthouse, and Time Out. He is also the co-editor of two books, "The Gay Liberation Book" and "The New Gay Liberation Book", and has contributed to several publications, including "The Time Out Film Guide", "The Pick of Punch", and "Time Out Interviews".

Len's latest bestselling book is "Naked in Paradise", published by Sybaritic Press.
