Biography

After a decade-long tenure as assistant director to his father, Leopoldo Torre Rios, the accomplished filmmaker co-directed two notable films alongside him. This marked a significant milestone in his professional journey, paving the way for his own creative endeavors.

His inaugural personal project, "Graciela" (1956),was an adaptation of Carmen Laforet's novel "Nada". This cinematic masterpiece was cleverly crafted to evade the strict censorship imposed by General Perón, ensuring its successful release.

Torre Nilsson's subsequent body of work was characterized by a preponderance of productions inspired by the stories of his wife, the talented Beatriz Guido. Some of his most notable collaborations with her include "La casa del angel" (1957),"Fin de fiesta" (1960),and "Piedra libre" (1975).
