Lesli Margherita is a multifaceted American performer, boasting a diverse range of expertise in musical theatre, voice, film, and television. She began her journey by training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA),which led to her being handpicked to star in the MGM television series Fame L.A., directed by the renowned Kenny Ortega.
Throughout her illustrious career, Margherita has made notable appearances and recurring roles on various television shows and pilots, including Major Crimes, The Suite Life on Deck, Charmed, NYPD Blue, The District, JAG, and On The Lot, produced by the iconic Steven Spielberg.
In addition to her impressive television credits, Margherita has also made a significant impact in the world of theatre. She has played the role of Inez in Zorro the Musical in London's West End, earning her an Olivier Award in the process. On Broadway, she has taken on the iconic role of Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda the Musical, a position she held for over two years. Her subsequent stint as the diva, Mona Kent, in Dames at Sea, ran for approximately a year before she returned to Matilda to close the acclaimed Broadway production.
From 2013 to 2017, Margherita hosted the popular Broadway.com series Looks Not Books, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the world of Matilda. The show ran for three seasons, comprising a total of 24 episodes, and was so well-received that she also hosted Ship Happens for Broadway.com in 2015, providing a glimpse into the backstage world of Dames at Sea. Although Ship Happens only ran for one season of eight episodes, it was ultimately discontinued due to the show's conclusion in January 2016.
