Lester Barrie is a multifaceted individual who wears many hats, including that of a Southern California Christian Pastor, professional stand-up comedian, and former movie and television actor. He has been serving as the Senior Pastor of the Bible Believers Missionary Baptist Church in Lakewood, California since 2011.
In addition to his ministerial duties, Barrie is also a talented comedian who has made appearances at various clubs, colleges, and churches across the country. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he graduated from the University of Southern California and went on to found Perfecting Christian Fellowship Church in Carson, California in 2006.
After several years of ministry, the church merged its membership and efforts with the Bible Believers MBC in 2011. Throughout his career, Barrie has enjoyed significant success as a stand-up comedian, including winning the prestigious "Best Comedian" award on Star Search in 1993, beating out a young Dave Chappelle in the process.
In 1999, he hosted a season of Comic View on Black Entertainment Television, and more recently, he appeared on Martin Lawrence's "First Amendment Stand Up" on the STARZ Network in 2009. Barrie continues to make regular appearances at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood and Long Beach, California.
In addition to his comedic endeavors, Barrie has also enjoyed success in small acting roles, including a notable guest appearance on the TV show Sliders and a memorable role in the Wayans Bros. film Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood, where he played the role of a preacher.
