Lia Frankland, now sixteen years old, has quickly become a rising star in the entertainment industry, impressing audiences with her dynamic on-screen presence. Her professional journey began at the tender age of eight, when she appeared alongside Academy Award winner Charlize Theron in the critically acclaimed film "Tully". For her portrayal of Sarah, the on-screen daughter of Theron's character, Lia received the prestigious Joey Award in Canada in 2018 and the Young Entertainer Award in the United States in 2019.
In the spring of 2021, Lia took on the role of Mary Joe, a hockey podcaster, in the Disney+ series "The Mighty Ducks: Gamechangers". Her impressive performances have also been featured in various Netflix series, including "The Baby-Sitters Club", "Maid", and "Devil in Ohio".
Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Lia's passion for the performing arts began at the age of four, when she started taking vocal lessons and developed a love for musical theater. At six years old, her parents enrolled her in acting classes, and her coach immediately recognized her natural talent. With her parents' blessing, the coach forwarded some scenes to top agents in Canada, and within a week, Lia was signed to an agency.
Lia's first film credit was playing the role of Avery, a bullied outsider, in the Lifetime movie "Betting on the Bride", for which she won the Best Principal or Supporting Actress in a TV movie (age 9-18) award at the 2017 Joey Awards in Canada. On the television front, her first role was playing Francie, an asthmatic young camper, on Freeform's supernatural series "Dead of Summer".
When she's not working on set, Lia enjoys a variety of hobbies, including playing the piano, guitar, dancing, singing, and songwriting. Additionally, she is multilingual, speaking English, Spanish, French, and Greek fluently.
