Biography

Lili Bernard is a multifaceted individual, born in Cuba and currently residing in Los Angeles, where she has established herself as a prominent visual artist and actor. Her artwork has been showcased in numerous galleries and institutions, and her creations delve into the complexities of trauma stemming from sexism and racism, both in the past and present.

As an actress and member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG/AFTRA),Lili has made notable appearances in several television shows and films. One of her most iconic roles was as the lively and expectant Mrs. Minifield in the final season of The Cosby Show in 1984. She also played the character Anna, the Black girlfriend of Kramer, in the popular sitcom Seinfeld in 1989.

Lili's extensive acting career has included co-starring roles in the Stephen King CBS TV mini-series Golden Years in 1991 and the BBC film Murder in Oakland, also released in 1991, alongside Ving Rhames and Eriq La Salle. In addition to her television and film work, Lili has performed in numerous theatrical productions in New York City, Off-Broadway, and Los Angeles.

A devoted mother of six children, born over the course of a decade, Lili is also a published writer and blogger for the Huffington Post. She has received critical acclaim as an independent curator, longtime arts activist, and community organizer. Lili's passion for promoting underrepresented artists led her to create and run HABLA (Harvesting Asian, Black, Latino Artists),a platform that provided opportunities for artists from diverse backgrounds in Los Angeles. Recognizing that Black artists were the most marginalized group, Lili founded and organized BAILA (Black Artists in Los Angeles),a movement aimed at bridging the gap and increasing access for Black artists in the mainstream art world.

Lili's educational background is equally impressive, having attended the American School in Japan for her 11th and 12th grades, as well as New Jersey public schools from kindergarten through tenth grade. She earned her undergraduate degree in German from Cornell University and City University of New York, before receiving her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from Otis College of Art and Design in 2014, under the guidance of esteemed professors Suzanne Lacy, Charles Gaines, Ulysses Jenkins, and Andrea Bowers.
