Lindsay MacKay is a multifaceted creative force, boasting a dual identity as both a writer and director. Her inaugural feature film, WET BUM, made a splash at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival, weaving a poignant narrative around a self-conscious 14-year-old girl's quest for belonging.
WET BUM's impressive résumé boasts a Top 10 Finalist placement in the esteemed Zoetrope Screenwriting Competition, alongside nominations for CSA, CSC, and CCE Awards. The film also garnered nods for Best First Feature and Best Lead Actress from the Vancouver Film Critics, and took home the Best Debut prize at the Alkino Film Festival in Poland, as well as the Best Film award from the international jury at the CineJeune Aisne in France.
As Lindsay continues to hone her craft, she recently completed filming her sophomore feature, THE SWEARING JAR, starring Adelaide Clemens, Patrick J. Adams, and Kathleen Turner, with a planned release in 2022.
Lindsay's academic pedigree is equally impressive, having graduated from the Directing program at the AFI Conservatory, where she received the distinguished Franklin J. Schaffner Fellow and Richard P. Rogers Spirit of Excellence Awards for her thesis film, CLEAR BLUE. This highly acclaimed thesis film also won the coveted College Television Award, often referred to as the Student Emmy.
Throughout her career, Lindsay's work has been showcased at numerous festivals worldwide, including TIFF, SXSW, AFI Fest, and Camerimage. Her television directing credits include the award-winning digital series RUNNING WITH VIOLET and two seasons of GHOST BFF for KindaTV and Babe Nation.
Currently, Lindsay is developing her feature film, MERSEA, in collaboration with Paula Devonshire, which participated in the TIFF writer's lab, Frontieres Forum, and Berlin Co-Pro market.
