Lou Hancock, a multifaceted individual with a lifelong passion for the arts, was born in north Texas and spent her early years in Fort Worth and Nocona. From a young age, Lou dedicated herself to becoming a skilled artist, honing her craft as a portrait painter, and some of her exceptional canvases still exist today.
As she transitioned from the world of art to the world of acting, Lou made her Broadway debut in a production of Kempy. She then joined the USO during World War II, touring the globe and marrying W. B. Hancock, DVM, with whom she had seven children in Texas.
Throughout her life, Lou continued to pursue her acting career, appearing in numerous off-Broadway and summer stock productions at the Casa Manana Theater in Fort Worth, Texas. She eventually became an associate producer at the theater and went on to audition for and perform in various TV shows, commercials, and movies.
At the age of sixty-five, Lou returned to college, earning a Master's Degree in Theater from Texas Christian University. She then joined the faculty as a professor, teaching method acting and inspiring a new generation of actors.
Lou's acting career continued to flourish, and she eventually moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams full-time. She played a wide range of roles, earning a devoted cult following for her memorable portrayal of Henrietta in the movie Evil Dead 2.
In her later years, Lou landed a recurring role on the popular TV show Walker, Texas Ranger, playing the charming County Clerk and love interest, Mabel Shoop. After three seasons, she was offered a contract to become a permanent cast member, but tragically, she passed away from multiple myeloma before she could earn that final credit.
Throughout her life, Lou Hancock embodied the spark of creative genius, working tirelessly in the entertainment industry and leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable performances.
