Biography

Libuše Skořepová, professionally known as Luba Skořepová, was a renowned Czech actress, writer, and playwright, born on September 21, 1923, in Náchod, Czech Republic. Her first name, Libuše, was often shortened to "Ljuba", which led to the nickname "Luba".

Libuše pursued her passion for acting at the prestigious Prague Conservatory from 1942 to 1944. Following the liberation, she worked with the Jindřich Honzla Young and ND Study groups from 1945 to 1948. After the ND Study disbanded in 1948, she joined the National Theater's drama department, where she remained for the next sixty-six years.

Throughout her illustrious career, Libuše Skořepová performed an impressive 140 roles on the National Theater stage, with her last performance taking place on June 18, 2014, in the production of Gogoles Revolution. In addition to her work at the National Theater, she also appeared in various productions at Metro, Ypsilon, Rubin, Řeznická, and Municipal Theaters of Prague, among others.

In her personal life, Libuše was married twice, first to actor Josef Pehr and then to writer Pavel Hanuš (1928-1991). However, she remained single after his passing.
