Biography

Luigi Barbini, a charismatic and talented young actor, was fortunate enough to be discovered by the renowned filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini, which marked the beginning of his acting career. This brief yet remarkable seven-year stint saw him primarily work with Pasolini, appearing in an impressive five of his films. His most notable role was that of Giacomo in the 1964 movie "Il vangelo secondo Matteo", a performance that showcased his impressive range as an actor.

In addition to his work with Pasolini, Barbini also made a memorable cameo appearance in Federico Fellini's 1965 film "Giulietta degli spiriti" and acted in approximately half a dozen other movies, including a sword and sandal film. However, in 1971, Barbini decided to put his acting career on hold and pursue more substantial endeavors.

He went on to study law at the Faculty of Jurisprudence, where he graduated with a doctorate in 1973. This significant milestone marked a turning point in his life, as he began to explore other avenues beyond the world of acting. Notably, Barbini also holds a doctorate in Sacred Theology, which he obtained in 2004, as well as a doctorate in Social Doctrine of the Church.

This remarkable transformation from actor to scholar is a testament to Barbini's versatility and dedication to his craft. His decision to put his acting career on hold and pursue higher education marks a significant departure from his playboy persona in the late 1960s, and is a testament to his growth and development as a person.
