Luís Miguel Cintra, a distinguished and celebrated Portuguese actor and stage director, made his debut in the captivating world of theater in 1968, during his formative years as a student of Romance Philology at the prestigious University of Lisbon, where he was an integral part of the esteemed Faculty of Letters Theater Group. Born in the vibrant city of Madrid in 1949, he would go on to carve out a remarkable career, leaving an indelible mark on the Portuguese theatrical landscape.
In the year 1970, he embarked on an acting technical course at the esteemed Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, courtesy of a prestigious scholarship bestowed upon him by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Following his return to Portugal, he joined forces with Jorge Silva Melo to co-found the Teatro da Cornucópia Company in 1973, a venture that allowed him to exercise his directorial skills on a wide range of productions, featuring the works of celebrated playwrights such as Aeschylus, Sophocles, Shakespeare, Brecht, Beckett, Strindberg, and numerous others. Furthermore, he also actively participated as an actor in many of the productions he directed, showcasing his versatility and talent in both creative capacities.
