Biography

Luke Johnson is a two-time Emmy-nominated producer and network executive at BYUtv, responsible for overseeing the creative direction of both scripted and unscripted series from development through post-production. In collaboration with the BBC, he has worked on acclaimed scripted series, including the Emmy-winning Malory Towers (2020) and the Emmy-nominated A Kind of Spark (2023),which has been praised for its groundbreaking representation of neurodivergent individuals, with a cast and crew comprising 50% neurodivergent individuals.

Throughout his career, Luke has produced thousands of hours of television for various networks, including TLC, History Channel, Discovery Channel, BYUtv, HGTV, Oxygen, and more.

Luke's personal journey is deeply connected to his passion for promoting inclusion and authentic disability representation. He has a younger brother named David, who has Down syndrome, and at the start of his career in entertainment, Luke made a promise to his brother that he would help him become a movie star. In 2022, Luke launched DavidMovieStar.com to raise awareness and funds for a feature film starring his brother David, highlighting the importance of inclusion and authentic disability representation.

Before his success as a producer and network executive, Luke created one of the first viral videos on YouTube, "The Luke Johnson Phone Experiment," in 2006. The video, which invited the world to call his cell phone, led to perpetual calls and interviews from around the globe, including NPR, The Today Show, and The Rachael Ray Show, as well as spokesperson offers from wireless providers.
