Lynne Ashe is a talented actress and writer from Gainesville, Georgia. Born to Nat Ashe, a poultry industry executive, and Bebe Ashe, a part-time legal secretary, Lynne showed a passion for acting and writing from a young age. She received a BA in Theatre Arts from Brenau University and was one of the first graduates of the Gainesville Theatre Alliance.
Lynne's academic journey continued at Wake Forest University, where she received a graduate assistantship in the MA Theatre program. Under the guidance of professor James Dodding, Lynne developed a passion for Shakespeare and British Restoration Theatre. She also studied at The Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon Avon and worked with renowned professors Maya Angelou and Dodding.
Despite her academic achievements, Lynne's struggles with weight issues began at puberty. She developed a negative self-image and was hospitalized for severe dehydration and gall bladder disease after going on an extreme diet. This experience led her to focus on stage performances and avoid screen work.
In 2010, Lynne was diagnosed with Lipedema, a genetic fat disorder that cannot be metabolized through diet or exercise. This diagnosis allowed her to accept and work with her condition, and she began seeking roles in film and television. Lynne's breakthrough came when she was cast in Wild Oats (2016) alongside Shirley MacLaine and Jessica Lange.
Since then, Lynne has appeared in numerous films and TV shows, including The Suicide Squad, I, Tonya, Office Christmas Party, and DC's Stargirl. She has also made a name for herself as a screenwriter, with her feature screenplay Scuppernongs receiving international acclaim and numerous awards.
Throughout her journey, Lynne has learned to own her unique appearance and use it to inspire others. She has been contacted by numerous women who suffer from Lipedema, and her story has helped them feel more accepted and validated. Lynne's experiences have taught her that it's never too late to pursue one's dreams, and she continues to thrive in the entertainment industry.
