Madeleine Bisson is a talented actress born in Etobicoke, Ontario, who currently resides in Toronto. She was discovered by renowned filmmaker Laurent Cantet, winner of the Palme d'Or, who was looking to cast the perfect group of young girls for his adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates' novel "Foxfire".
Bisson was chosen from over 1,000 girls who responded to an open casting call to play the role of Rita, a sweet and vulnerable young woman who becomes the impetus for the creation of the "Foxfire" gang. Rita is preyed upon by predatory men, and Bisson's performance received rave reviews in North America and Europe.
Before landing the role in "Foxfire", Bisson had already developed a passion for acting, performing on stage at the age of ten in a Church's basement. She went on to study Theatre Performance at the University of Toronto, a highly competitive program that requires students to re-audition every year, leaving only ten graduates by the end of the final year.
Bisson's training prepared her well for the improv used during auditions and filming for "Foxfire". She has also appeared as a guest star on CBC's "Cracked", a role heavily based on Amanda Todd, a teenager who was cyberbullied and tragically took her own life. Additionally, she will be seen in the season finale of Global's "Remedy" and the musical film "Bang Bang Baby" alongside Jane Levy and Peter Stormare.
Known for her impeccable sense of style and passion for fashion, Bisson draws inspiration from vintage design, combining it with a modern twist. She admires fashion designers such as Kate Spade, Topshop, FCUK, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and jewellers like House of Harlow, Tiffany's, and Anne Sportun.
During the Toronto International Film Festival, the National Post highlighted Bisson alongside stars like Winona Ryder and Olga Kurylenko for her stunning emerald-green sequin outfit at the premiere of "Foxfire". Both Italian Vogue and Marie Claire Spain picked her as Best Dressed at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
