Mahmoud Kamel, a renowned filmmaker in the Middle East, was born in Cairo, Egypt, where he nurtured his passion for filmmaking at the Higher Institute of Cinema, graduating with high honors. His impressive academic background was merely the beginning of his illustrious career, as he went on to create several short films that garnered international recognition, earning him numerous awards and accolades.
Kamel's determination and ambition led him to Italy, where he further honed his skills at prominent FX studios, including Proxima and Seuveus. He also had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Director on the renowned Italian TV show "Roma," solidifying his experience in the industry.
As a seasoned filmmaker, Kamel has had the privilege of attending some of the world's most prestigious film festivals, including the Festival De Cannes, Venice Film Festival, and Berlin International Film Festival. His passion for filmmaking, coupled with his desire to address the concerns and fears that people face, led him to create several thought-provoking films, including the psychological drama "Mekano," the thriller "Adrenaline," and the critically acclaimed "Adam's Village," which explores the importance of friendship and the effects of corruption on society.
Kamel's academic pursuits did not stop there, as he went on to earn a Master's Degree in Independent Filmmaking and Production from UCLA, courtesy of the Fulbright Commission. Upon his return to Egypt, he directed several popular TV shows, before moving to Dubai and working with the largest network in the country. His latest project, which focuses on the challenges faced by young Arab men when leaving their countries to pursue better lives, is a testament to his commitment to telling stories that resonate with his audience.
Currently, Kamel resides between Egypt and the United States, where he is the co-owner of Handmade Movies LLC, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his craft.
