Maia Mitchell is a multifaceted Australian talent, born in Lismore, New South Wales, who has been honing her skills as a singer-songwriter and actress from a very early age. Her passion for music led her to learn how to play the guitar, which would later become an integral part of her performances.
Maia's acting career gained momentum when she landed a main role in the ABC Family show, The Fosters, in 2013. Her portrayal of "Callie Jacob" earned her widespread recognition, solidifying her position as a talented young actress.
In addition to her work on The Fosters, Maia has also made a mark on the Disney Channel. She appeared in a special episode of Jessie in 2013, alongside fellow Disney Channel star, Ross Lynch. Furthermore, she starred in the hit original film, Teen Beach Movie, which premiered on the Disney Channel in 2013.
Maia's journey in the entertainment industry began when she participated in dance lessons as a young girl. She performed in school and local theatre productions, which helped her develop her stage presence and confidence. At just 12 years old, she auditioned for the Australian television series, Mortified, and landed the lead role of "Brittany Flune".
Mortified, which aired from 2006 to 2007, broke numerous Australian Children's Television records and won several awards, including an Australian Film Institute (AFI) Award for Best Children's Television Series and a Chicago International Children's Film Festival Award.
Maia's subsequent roles include "Natasha Hamilton" in the Australian television series, Trapped, in 2008, and the sequel series, Castaway, in 2010.
