Maika Monroe, a native of Santa Barbara, embarked on a journey to become a professional freestyle kiteboarder, mirroring the footsteps of her father who first introduced her to the sport at the tender age of 13. As she entered her senior year of high school, Monroe made the bold decision to relocate to the picturesque north coast of the Dominican Republic's Cabarete, where she dedicated herself to training full-time while simultaneously completing her studies online.
Under the warm tropical sun, Monroe's athletic prowess flourished, and she went on to achieve remarkable success, securing a well-deserved second place finish in the prestigious International Red Bull Air Competition.
