Maíz Lucero's life began in Denver, Colorado, where he was born to a creative family, his mother being a talented muralist and his father a dedicated schoolteacher, with one sister sharing in the joy of his childhood.
His early years were marked by a strong educational foundation, with attendance at Presentation of Our Lady and St. Bernadette grade schools, followed by graduation from Holy Family High School, where he excelled in various sports, including football, baseball, and basketball, ultimately serving as co-captain of the football team, leading them to the state playoffs after a decade-long losing streak.
