Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Makenzie's acting journey began at the tender age of four with a commercial for "Mott's for Tott's". This marked the start of a series of national commercials, followed by her feature film debut in "Do You Believe" alongside Mira Sorvino.
Subsequently, Makenzie appeared in a string of guest starring roles in television series, including CSI and "About A Boy". Her subsequent ventures included starring in Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle's "Steve Jobs" for Universal, and the psychological thriller "The Charnel House".
Makenzie continued to excel in feature films, starring in Air Bud Entertainment's children's live-action film "Pup Star", and then in "God Bless the Broken Road", which was released nationwide in September 2018. She also took a comedic turn, starring in the romantic comedy "Off The Menu".
Following the success of "Pup Star", Makenzie went on to star in three installments of the film, titled "Pup Star: Better 2Gether", "Pup Star: World Tour", and "Pup Star Christmas", which were all released on the Disney Channel and Netflix, as well as the upcoming feature "Let Us In".
Makenzie is a series regular on the hit CBS comedy, The Unicorn, having completed season 1 and set to return for season 2 this fall.
When not in school or acting in a television or film, Makenzie enjoys dancing, hanging out with her friends and sister, and is a devoted pet owner, spending quality time with her three beloved pups, Pickles, Lambchop, and Twinkie.
