Biography

Makgotso M, a talented individual, was born in the vibrant city of Johannesburg, specifically in the suburb of Alberton. Her early educational years were spent at Albertview Primary School, where she attended until the age of 11. At that point, she made the bold decision to relocate to the United Kingdom, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

Upon arriving in England, Makgotso initially settled in the charming town of Brighton, where she spent the first six months of her stay. During this period, she had the opportunity to express her passion for the arts, particularly drama and dance, by attending performing arts clubs. Her involvement in these clubs not only allowed her to hone her skills but also earned her recognition, as she won an award for best performer in various school productions.

Makgotso's academic pursuits led her to enroll in Brunel University, where she completed a BA Joint Honours Degree in Theatre Studies, Film, and Television. Her impressive academic record and outstanding performances caught the attention of the prestigious National Youth Theatre, which accepted her into their program. The culmination of this course was a final performance at the renowned National Theatre.

After completing her studies, Makgotso decided to return to her homeland, South Africa, to pursue her acting career. Her impressive portfolio includes a guest lead role in the popular South African comedy, My Perfect Family, as well as a featured role in the 2015 film, Ayanda, produced by the talented Terry Pheto.

Makgotso has also had the opportunity to work on several notable projects, including a lead role in the NFVF woman filmmaker slate of 2016. Additionally, she played the complex character of Zara, a prostitute who won a landmark case, in the hit series Sokhulu & Partners. Her versatility as an actress has also been showcased through her recurring role in The Sober Companion for SABC 3.

Currently, Makgotso is making a name for herself in the South African television industry, starring in two of the country's largest soaps, Muvhango and Isidingo, both of which air on SABC. Her latest project is the second season of Preparation for Isthunzi, where she plays the role of Thishiwe, a character that is part of a series that explores the daily struggles and lives of women.
