He is a Ukrainian-American professional dancer, choreographer, and instructor, best known for his work on the ABC dance competition series "Dancing with the Stars". Chmerkovskiy began his dance training at the age of 5 and went on to study at the Kiev State Choreographic School in Ukraine. He later moved to the United States, where he joined the dance company "Center Stage" and later became a principal dancer with the company. In 2006, Chmerkovskiy joined the cast of "Dancing with the Stars" and has since become a fan favorite, winning the competition twice and earning numerous awards and nominations for his work.
