Mallika Sherawat is an Indian actress who has made a significant impact in the Hindi film industry. Born as Reema Lamba, she later adopted the screen name Mallika Sherawat.
Sherawat began her education at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, and later earned a degree in philosophy from Miranda House at Delhi University. Before pursuing a career in acting, she worked as an air hostess and appeared in commercials.
Sherawat's film career started with a small role in Talat Jani's romance film Jeena Sirf Merre Liye in 2002. She gained popularity with her lead role in Khwahish in 2003, which featured 17 kissing scenes. Her subsequent films include Murder in 2004, Kis Kis Ki Kismat and Bachke Rehna Re Baba in 2004 and 2005, respectively.
In 2005, Sherawat appeared in her first international film, The Myth, a Chinese fantasy-adventure and martial arts film starring Jackie Chan. She also starred in Pyaar Ke Side Effects in 2006, a romantic comedy with Rahul Bose.
Sherawat's subsequent films include Aap Ka Suroor - The Real Love Story in 2007, Welcome in 2007, Ugly Aur Pagli and Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam in 2008, Dasavatharam in 2008, and Hisss in 2010. She won the Best Actress Award at the Gotham Screen Film Festival & Screenplay Contest 2011 for her performance in Hisss.
Sherawat has also appeared in item numbers in films like Thank You, Bin Bulaye Baraati, and Tezz, and has acted in TV shows like Sarabhai V/S Sarabhai and Hawaii Five-0. In 2013, she participated in Bachelorette India - Mere Khayalon ki Mallika, a reality dating show.
Sherawat has received several awards and accolades, including the 2008 Renaissance Artist Award and the International Youth Icon Award at the Kalakar Awards in 2015.
