Biography

Manfred Goldberg, a British Holocaust survivor of German and Jewish heritage, embarked on a perilous journey that would forever alter the course of his life. In December 1941, he, his mother, and younger brother were forcibly deported by train from their homeland of Germany to the Riga Ghetto in Latvia, a devastating blow that would leave an indelible mark on their lives.

As the war raged on, Manfred and his family were transferred to Stutthof concentration camp, situated near the city of Danzig, which is now known as Gdańsk in Poland. This brutal and inhumane experience would continue to haunt him for the rest of his life.

Finally, on May 3, 1945, Manfred's nightmare came to an end as he was liberated at Neustadt in Germany, a moment of liberation that would bring solace and hope to a man who had endured unimaginable suffering and trauma.
