Biography

Marcela Březinová, a Czech singer, songwriter, and pedagogue, was born on November 18, 1960. As the finalist of the former talent contest Young Song in 1980, she embarked on her professional career as a vocalist with the avant-garde electronic group OK Band from 1981 to 1987, during which she also recorded her core musical material.

Although she left the band to become a soloist, she primarily focused on collaborating with other artists in the recording studios, often alongside Lešek Semelka and his S.L.S. from 1987 to 1991, as well as Yandim Band Slávka Janda from 1989 to 1990. Her most notable achievements, including a Grammy Award, were accomplished in the 1990s with two prominent bands.

In the new millennium, Březinová partially revived her career with the temporarily restored OK Band from 1999 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2013. According to the Encyclopedia of Jazz and Modern Popular Music, Březinová is credited with being one of the first to transform the vocal elements of new wave into Czech female vocals.
