Mardik Martin, a renowned screenwriter, boasts an impressive distinction as a member of the elite group of writers on the Writers Guild of America's list of 101 Greatest Screenplays ever written. His remarkable journey began with a move to the United States from Iraq to pursue his academic aspirations at New York University. Martin's academic achievements were marked by his receipt of the prestigious Mahler Award and the attainment of a Master's degree in Screenwriting in 1968. Following his graduation, he went on to share his expertise as a professor at NYU from 1968 to 1973.
The success of Mean Streets (1973),which he co-wrote with Martin Scorsese, marked a turning point in Martin's career, prompting him to relocate to Hollywood. He subsequently collaborated with Chartoff-Winkler Productions, penning screenplays such as Valentino (1977) and working alongside Scorsese on multiple projects.
