Marguerite Clarice Marsh was born on April 18, 1888, in Lawrence, Kansas, to a family of seven children. After her father's untimely death, her mother relocated the family to Los Angeles, California. Marguerite's early career path was marked by a brief stint as a nurse, before she decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
In 1907, Marguerite married Donald Loveridge and had a daughter named Leslie. She was subsequently signed by Biograph studios in 1911, making her film debut in The Primal Call. Marguerite went on to appear in numerous shorts, including A Siren Of Impulse, The Leading Man, and Too Many Maids, often under the stage name Marguerite Loveridge.
Marguerite's marriage to Donald ended in 1913, and she began dating comedian Fred Mace. Her younger sister, Mae Marsh, had already established herself as a popular movie star, and the two sisters collaborated on the film Fields Of Honor.
Marguerite's romance with Fred ended in 1916 when she refused to marry him. Tragically, Fred passed away just a few months later. Marguerite continued to work in the film industry, taking on leading roles in dramas such as The Phantom Honeymoon and The Eternal Magdalene. She also appeared alongside magician Harry Houdini in the 1918 serial The Master Mystery.
In her free time, Marguerite enjoyed reading and studying astrology. Despite making over eighty films, she never achieved the same level of success as her sister Mae. Her final film was the 1923 British drama The Lion's Mouse.
Marguerite suffered a nervous breakdown in the fall of 1925, following which she moved in with her mother in New York City. Sadly, she passed away on December 8, 1925, at the age of thirty-seven, due to complications from bronchial pneumonia. Marguerite was laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York.
