Marilla Wex, a talented British-Canadian actress and comedian, resides in Toronto, having made the city her home after relocating from the United Kingdom in 2005 to be with her husband, Michael Wex.
Born and raised in a small medieval village just outside Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, England, Marilla's early life was marked by a strong foundation in the arts. She was awarded a full scholarship to King's High School for Girls in Warwick, where she excelled academically and artistically.
Following her secondary education, Marilla pursued a degree in TV, Film, and Drama at Bristol University, and later enrolled in a two-year post-graduate acting course at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
After completing her formal education, Marilla spent eight years honing her craft in various theatre productions across the UK. However, in 2005, she made the bold decision to emigrate to Canada, where she would eventually establish a successful career in the entertainment industry.
Toronto became Marilla's new home, and it was here that she began to build a reputation as a stand-up comedian. Her impressive performances led her to win the Brantford Comedy Festival Rising Stars competition, as well as opening for notable comedians such as Tom Green, Sean Cullen, and Myq Kaplan.
Marilla's breakthrough came in 2015 when she landed the role of Foreign Correspondent Marilla Wex in the Comedy Channel's popular television show, "The Beaverton". This marked a significant milestone in her career, solidifying her position as a talented and versatile actress and comedian.
Today, Marilla lives in Toronto with her husband, continuing to pursue her passion for the performing arts and entertaining audiences with her unique brand of humor.
