Mario Alberto Campos de Morais Prata, a renowned Brazilian writer, playwright, chronicler, and journalist, was born on February 11, 1946, in Uberaba. He has garnered recognition for his exceptional work as a novelist, author of soap operas, and playwright, with his most notable creations being the novel "Stupid Cupid" (1976),the plays "Fábrica de Chocolate" (1979) and "Besame Mucho" (1982),and the books "Schifaizfavoire - Dictionary of Portuguese" (1994),"Diary of a Slim" (1997),"My Women and My Men" (1998),and "Purgatory" (2007).
Born into a mining family in Uberaba, Mario Prata spent his formative years in the city of Lins, São Paulo. At the tender age of fourteen, he began writing in an old Remington typewriter in his father's laboratory, producing "horrible chronicles" that often preached freedom and questioned the existence of God. This early start in writing led him to contribute to A Gazeta de Lins, where he wrote a social column under the pseudonym Franco Abbiazzi, producing reports and articles that showcased his burgeoning writing talent.
