Mariya Poroshina is a renowned Russian stage and film actress, celebrated for her captivating portrayal of Svetlana, the female lead in the iconic vampire franchise, comprising the films "Night Watch" and "Day Watch".
Born in Moscow, Soviet Union, Mariya's early life was marked by her parents' divorce, after which she was raised by her stepfather. At the tender age of five, she began taking ballet and singing classes, which would later become a significant part of her artistic foundation. Upon completing her education, Mariya was encouraged by her parents to attend the prestigious Shchukin Drama School, where she honed her craft and eventually married actor Yuri Kutsenko. The marriage, which lasted for five years, resulted in the birth of a daughter.
Throughout the early 1990s, Mariya made regular appearances on television and secured small roles in B-movies. Her stage career, however, has been more successful, with numerous leading roles in highly acclaimed productions of both classic and modern plays.
Mariya's breakthrough as a film actress came with the adaptation of a vampire book series, "Night Watch".
