Marla Jeannette Rubinoff, a talented individual with a rich family background, was born in the Midwest and relocated to California as an infant in the late 1960s. Her father, Dr. Malcolm Rubinoff, and her mother welcomed three children, with Marla being the eldest sibling, accompanied by her two sisters, Tammy and Danita Rubinoff.
Following her parents' divorce when she was just eight years old, both her father and mother remarried, with Dr. Rubinoff's second wife, Ginny, giving birth to a son named Charles Rubinoff. Marla's family tree is further enriched by her great uncle, the renowned violinist Dave Rubinoff, and her connection to Mike Fleiss, the creator of the popular reality TV show "The Bachelor" (2002),as her second cousin.
Academically, Marla earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and later obtained her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Her passion for performance led her to star in her first series, "Down to Earth" (1984),which received support from her parents, who emphasized the importance of higher education.
Marla's acting career continued to flourish, with notable roles in TV series such as "On the Air" (1992),a production by the acclaimed director David Lynch, and "The New WKRP in Cincinnati" (1991). During this time, she simultaneously pursued her graduate studies, completing her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and obtaining her Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) license in October 2002.
On a personal note, Marla tied the knot with Duane French on October 19, 2001, and became a mother for the first time in 2003 with the birth of her daughter, Amber Skye French. Her family grew again in 2006 with the arrival of her second child, Summer Rain French. In addition to her radio appearances as a Marriage and Family therapist, Marla continues to nurture her acting career and take on new roles.
