Biography

Marrie Lee, born Doris Young on November 25, 1959, in Singapore, was a talented actress who rose to fame in the 1970s.

Her early life was marked by tragedy, losing her father at the age of six and her mother at sixteen. Lee found solace in acting, working as a receptionist in a Shenton Way nightclub when she was first discovered by a scouting team from Hong Kong.

After gaining experience in acting, Lee responded to a newspaper ad for a lead role in a film, which she won, playing the titular character in the campy Filipino action film "Cleopatra Wong." She reprised the role in two more films, performing her own stunts, including jumping through a glass window and dangling from a helicopter without a harness or safety net.

Lee's injuries from performing these stunts were severe, including a torn pinkie finger and a fractured left wrist. She eventually retired from acting in the early 1980s.

In 1989, Lee started her own health-care products company in Singapore, which she still runs to this day.

Lee has also appeared in documentaries, including "The Search for Weng Weng" and "Machete Maidens Unleashed!", and has been reunited with the producer and director of the Cleopatra Wong movies, Bobby Suarez.

After Suarez's death in 2010, Lee inherited the IP and franchise rights of Cleopatra Wong and set out to fulfill his dying wish by rebooting the character.

Lee started a hobbyists group, Reel Frenz, in 2012, which has grown to over 400 members from diverse disciplines and nationalities. The group has produced 12 shorts and a full-length feature drama, with Lee writing and directing many of the projects.

Lee is currently working on three short films and a feature film script, "7 Bullets," an omnibus action drama. She is also developing three other projects, including a thriller, a true adaptation of martial arts legend Shihan Peter Chong, and a reboot of Cleopatra Wong, titled "Kill Cleo."
