Biography

Matt Green, a stalwart figure in the southeastern film industry, has spent over three decades honing his craft, leaving an indelible mark on the world of filmmaking. His impressive résumé boasts an array of achievements, including the direction of nine feature films over the past twenty years, as well as a storied career in creature, makeup, and physical effects spanning thirty-two years.

Throughout his illustrious career, Matt has not only worked tirelessly behind the camera but has also dedicated himself to mentoring and guiding aspiring filmmakers. He has assisted numerous colleagues in producing and coordinating their own films, and has inspired countless students to pursue their dreams in the motion picture industry.

For the past thirty years, Matt has been a cherished fixture at Dragon*Con, one of the world's largest sci-fi, fantasy, and media conventions. He has captivated audiences with his insightful panel discussions on the craft of filmmaking, sharing his expertise on directing, producing, computer graphics, physical effects, and the distribution of independent films. His engaging presentations have earned him a reputation as a master storyteller, with the ability to connect with crowds of over 100 people.

Matt's academic credentials are equally impressive. He spent two years teaching commercial editing at the Atlanta Broadcast Institute, before accepting a coveted invitation from special effects legend Tom Savini to join the faculty at his renowned Tom Savini Special Makeup Effects School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. For four years, Matt shared his expertise with students, imparting the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the competitive world of special effects.

In 1996, Matt returned to Atlanta, Georgia, where he continued to pursue his passion for filmmaking. Over the years, he has had the privilege of collaborating with industry leaders, including producer/director Chris Moore, writer/director/actor Dwayne Whitaker, and actors Bill Moseley, Tom Savini, Trent Haaga, and William Sanderson. Through these collaborations, Matt has learned and mastered the art of incorporating big-budget filmmaking techniques into low-budget scenarios.

Matt's experience is not limited to domestic productions. He has worked on projects both domestically and internationally, performing nearly every job on a film set. His extensive knowledge of filmmaking has equipped him with the ability to manage every aspect of the filmmaking process, from directing his own films to feeding his crew.
