Matthew Tolmach, born in 1964, is a renowned American film producer with a rich heritage in the film industry. His fascination with cinema was sparked by the captivating stories shared by his grandfather, the illustrious producer and film executive, Sam Jaffe, who was of Jewish descent.

As Tolmach transitioned to Los Angeles, he secured a position with the esteemed producer Frank Marshall, collaborating on a documentary about the legendary cyclist Lance Armstrong, directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Alex Gibney. This formative experience laid the groundwork for his future endeavors.

In 2008, Tolmach was appointed as co-president of production at Sony Pictures Entertainment, partnering with the experienced executive Doug Belgrad, whom he had worked with since 2003. During his tenure, he oversaw the Spider-Man franchise, a significant milestone in his career.

In 2010, Tolmach made the decision to leave Sony Pictures Entertainment to focus on producing the next installment of the Spider-Man series. Following his departure, Belgrad was named sole president of the studio, while Hanna Minghella took on the role of president of production.

In his personal life, Tolmach is married to the talented director Paige Goldberg, with whom he shares a child.
