Matthew Brumlow is a native of Georgia and a resident of Chicago, where he has had the privilege of performing with numerous esteemed theater companies. As an ensemble member of the American Blues Theatre Company since 2001, he has accumulated an impressive 15 production credits, including notable performances in Hank Williams: Lost Highway, Oklahoma, A View from the Bridge, Catch 22, Tobacco Road, True West, and The Hairy Ape.
Brumlow's extensive Chicago credits also include work with TimeLine Theatre, Court Theatre, Writers' Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Apple Tree Theatre, and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, among others. His regional credits include performances with the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Peninsula Players Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre, Montana Shakespeare In The Parks, and Indiana Repertory Theatre, among others.
In addition to his work on stage, Brumlow has also appeared in several independent feature films, including "Blur Circle," "Of Minor Prophets," "Endings," and "Where We Started." His performances have earned him numerous accolades, including a Broadway World Chicago Award nomination and three Equity Jeff Award nominations. In 2014, he won the Equity Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Principal Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Hank Williams Sr., which the Chicago Tribune hailed as "the best work of Brumlow's long career."
Brumlow holds a Bachelor's degree in English from Lee University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was awarded the prestigious F.J.Lee Award. He also holds a Master's degree in Theatre from Northwestern University and is a proud member of Actors Equity Association, represented by Big Mouth Talent.
