Maurice Godin was born in Toronto, Canada, and currently resides in the United States, having spent over thirty years honing his craft in theatre, television, and film. He received four years of classical conservatory training at Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto, which was followed by an apprenticeship at the esteemed Shaw Festival in Canada. Godin continued his actor training with international teachers and coaches at the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, where he had the privilege of working with some of the world's most renowned stage directors.
Throughout his illustrious theatre career, Godin has had the opportunity to perform in major theaters across Canada, including the prestigious Shaw Festival and the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, earning critical acclaim for his portrayal of Arturo Ui in Brecht's The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui. Some of his numerous theatre credits include Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers, Constantin in The Seagull, Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Rochester in Jane Eyre.
In addition to his extensive theatre work, Godin has also performed extensively in Musical Theatre, taking on notable roles such as the Emcee in Cabaret, the Master in Godspell, Joey Evans in Pal Joey, Herschel Blackwell in Fire, and Screamin' John in John Gray's Rock and Roll. He recently returned to the Stratford stage to give a much-lauded performance as Edmund in King Lear, starring Christopher Plummer.
Godin has also had a successful television career, with guest appearances on The Practice, Ally McBeal, Friends, Outer Limits, and Seinfeld. He has also played recurring characters on Poltergeist, Third Rock from the Sun, Spin City, First Monday, and Spin City, and has been a series regular on Café Americain, Life with Roger, and Working. His feature film work includes notable roles in Canadian films such as White Room, Salt Water Moose, Double Take, and Bizet's Dream, as well as a memorable performance as Hector in the film Boat Trip.
In his personal life, Godin is currently working on a novel inspired by his childhood raised in an Acadian household. He resides in Studio City with his lovely wife Paula and their two cats Abigail and Emily, and spends his free time drawing, writing music, and designing and building wooden furniture.
