Maxon Crumb, the younger sibling of renowned underground cartoonist Robert Crumb and his brother Charles Crumb, as well as the uncle of the talented Sophie Crumb, has made a notable mark in the world of comics and literature.

Early on, his creative endeavors could be found in various publications, including the avant-garde magazine Weirdo, the provocative anthology Liquidator, and his own self-published work, Maxon's Poe, which was released in 1997. Additionally, his contributions to the Crumb Family Comics collection, published by Last Gasp in 1998, showcased his unique style and perspective.

Maxon's literary debut, the novel HardCore Mother, published in 2000, was a groundbreaking exploration of themes such as incest and sadism. Following its publication in 2001, his work gained widespread recognition, introducing him to a broader audience and cementing his position as a significant figure in the world of alternative comics and literature.
