Maya Da-Rin is a multifaceted creative force, exceling as both a director and screenwriter.
Born in 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she embarked on a journey of artistic discovery, initially studying Design and Philosophy of Art at the prestigious Pontifical Catholic University.
To further hone her craft, Da-Rin attended film workshops at the renowned Cuban Film School, where she refined her skills and laid the groundwork for her future success.
In 2010, she made the bold decision to relocate to France, where she enrolled in the esteemed Le Fresnoy, graduating with honors and solidifying her reputation as a talented and dedicated artist.
This impressive feat was followed by another significant milestone, as Da-Rin was selected as an artist in residence at the LABoral Art Center in Spain in 2013.
Throughout her career, Da-Rin's films and video installations have garnered widespread recognition and acclaim, featuring at esteemed film festivals and art institutions worldwide, including the Locarno, DokLeipzig, Toulouse, Guadalajara, São Paulo Art Biennial, MoMA, and the New Museum in New York.
Currently, Da-Rin is hard at work on her debut feature film, The Fever, which has already generated significant buzz and attention. The project has been selected for various prestigious programs and awards, including TorinoFilmLab's Script&Pitch, FrameWork, the Cinéfondation residence, and Cannes' La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde. Additionally, The Fever has received the esteemed Hubert Bals Fund award for script and development.
