Mei, the second of three sisters, was born with a unique name inspired by Mei Kusakabe, a character from the beloved anime film "My Neighbor Totoro", which was cherished by her parents who have a special fondness for anime.
As an aspiring idol, Mei made her debut in 2014 as a member of the military-themed unit "Tenkou Shoujo Kagekidan", later renamed "Tenko Shojo*", where she honed her skills and gained experience in the entertainment industry.
However, on September 10, 2019, Mei announced her decision to graduate from the group, marking a new chapter in her life.
In addition to her music career, Mei has also pursued her passion for writing by hosting readings of her original essays, short stories, and scripts, which she has been doing since September 2016 under the title "Mei Nadeshiko" (夢詠撫子).
