Melania Knauss, born Melanija Knavs on April 26, 1970, in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, and raised in Sevnica, Slovenia, by her parents Amalija Knavs, a skilled patternmaker, and Viktor Knavs, a successful car dealer. Her early life was marked by a strong foundation in education, as she attended the Secondary School of Design and Photography in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.
She then pursued higher education at the University of Ljubljana, studying Architecture and Design for a year before deciding to leave academia to focus on a modeling career. Her first modeling endeavors took place in her native Slovenia and other European cities, including Paris and Milan, before eventually making her way to New York City. Notably, Melania is fluent in both Slovene and English.
On January 22, 2005, she married Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida, and on March 20, 2006, she gave birth to their son, Barron Trump, in Manhattan, New York City. Her acquisition of US citizenship in 2006 marked a significant milestone in her life.
Melania's life took a dramatic turn on January 20, 2017, when she became the First Lady of the United States, a position she held until January 20, 2021.
