Melanie Doane, a renowned Juno Award winner, has been a prominent figure in the Canadian music scene for over 15 years, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. Her music has been featured in a plethora of hit television shows, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Brothers and Sisters, Flashpoint, and Party of Five, to name just a few.
In recent years, Melanie has ventured into new creative territories, co-creating the show Ukulele U, which premiered on CBC Kids in 2022. Alongside legendary music producer Bob Ezrin, Melanie not only hosted the show but also took on the roles of executive producer, writer, and composer for all 52 episodes, showcasing her versatility and dedication to the craft.
Melanie's passion for music education extends beyond her on-screen endeavors. Thirteen years ago, she founded Doane Music Uschool, a children's music charity that has made a significant impact on the lives of over 5000 students in Toronto elementary schools since its inception. This remarkable initiative is committed to ensuring that music is accessible to all children, drawing inspiration from the work of her father, J. Chalmers Doane, a celebrated music educator who is an Order of Canada recipient for his groundbreaking contributions to music education in Canadian school boards.
