Born in 1980, Menashe Lustig is a devout follower of Rabbi Twersky, the esteemed leader of the Hasidic movement, residing in New Square, New York. Prior to his return to New Square, Lustig spent seven formative years in London, where he confronted numerous challenges that would later serve as the foundation for his remarkable story.
Following the tragic loss of his wife, Lustig made the difficult decision to relocate back to New Square, where he took up a position as a grocery clerk. Unfortunately, his personal struggles continued to unfold, as he faced the heart-wrenching reality of losing custody of his son due to his reluctance to remarry.
These poignant life experiences served as the catalyst for Joshua Z Weinstein's critically acclaimed semi-documentary, Menashe (2017),a powerful and moving portrayal of Lustig's journey.
