Biography

Mia Trachinger is a multifaceted creative force, effortlessly transitioning between roles as a writer/director, professor, marketing consultant, and activist, with a plethora of experiences woven into the fabric of her life.

Her filmography boasts a pair of critically acclaimed features, BUNNY and REVERSION, which premiered at esteemed festivals such as Sundance and Toronto, garnered Independent Spirit Award nominations, and earned her the distinction of being named one of Hollywood Reporter's "25 New Faces To Watch".

The cinematic world took notice of Mia's innovative storytelling, with Variety describing BUNNY as "an original work of inventive whimsy", while Film Threat praised REVERSION as "stunning", with the film lingering in the minds of viewers long after its conclusion.

Mia's impressive credentials have led to invitations to the Film Independent Screenplay Lab, Stowe Story Lab, and Women In Film Mentorship Circles, solidifying her position as a rising talent in the industry.

In addition to her feature film work, Mia has made a name for herself in television, writing and directing a grounded sci-fi episode for ITVS' FUTURESTATES Television Series, alongside fellow directors Barry Jenkins and Nisha Ganatra. She has also collaborated with Justin Lin on the comedy short SAF SEEKING for his online production company YOMYOMF, helmed the online series FEMALE MOMENTS for Two Funny Brains, and directed English dubbing for Netflix.

Last year, Mia's screenplay RIPE was selected for Stowe Story Labs 2023, a testament to her continued growth and dedication to her craft.

Prior to her return to feature filmmaking, Mia spent time as a faculty member teaching directing at UCLA's School of Film and Television, sharing her expertise with the next generation of filmmakers.

Currently, Mia is hard at work on her third feature, WHAT REMAINS, produced by Justin Lin's Perfect Storm Entertainment.

When not behind the camera, Mia can be found exploring the great outdoors, having traversed high-altitude passes in Nepal, California, Switzerland, and New Zealand. A native of Silverlake, Los Angeles, Mia lives with her family, her creative energy and passion for storytelling continuing to inspire and captivate audiences around the world.
