Mike Prosser, a multifaceted artist, began his career in acting in grade school in Lake Oswego, Oregon. He quickly transitioned to community theater, where he honed his skills as an actor and budding scenic artist. His fascination with the macabre began to manifest in his creative endeavors around sixth grade, when he discovered Fangoria Magazine, which led him to develop his skills in sculpting and special make-up effects.
Mike's writing career began in middle school, where he started crafting his first handwritten screenplay for a horror film with his best friend, Brett. He continued writing throughout high school, producing a number of one-act plays and even winning the local Charles Trombley Award for his play, A Single Bullet.
After high school, Mike worked as a sculptor at Will Vinton Studios, where he contributed to various projects, including a Gravy Dog Food commercial and Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. He then attended Southern Oregon State College (now Southern Oregon University),where he received a BFA with an emphasis in acting. During his time at college, he wrote and directed several short films, including House For Sale, which featured a cameo from Emilio Delgado (Luis from Sesame Street).
Following his graduation, Mike continued to work on feature-length screenplays and collaborated with comic book writer David Walker to produce the micro-budget cult hit, The Dividing Hour. The film gained recognition and praise from critics, including Guillermo Del Toro and Roger Ebert.
Mike has since continued to write and direct films, including Untraceable, Leave No Trace, and TV's Leverage and Grimm. He has written 14 screenplays to date, with two produced, one optioned for a Spanish adaptation, and two commissioned. His current projects include the horror-drama Recovery and the werewolf urban crime-horror-comedy, Watchdog.
